Upon arrival at Colombo International Airport, receive a traditional Sri Lankan welcome before driving to the coastal town of Chilaw. En route, visit the sacred Munneswaram Temple, where Lord Rama is believed to have prayed to Lord Shiva after defeating Ravana. Continue to the nearby Manavari Temple, home to the first Shiva Lingam installed by Lord Rama, known as the Ramalingam. These two temples are among the most important Ramayana sites in Sri Lanka. Later, check into your hotel and relax. Enjoy the serene surroundings and local culture before an overnight stay in Chilaw.
After breakfast, journey north towards Jaffna, the cultural heart of Sri Lanka's Tamil community. Upon arrival, visit the magnificent Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, one of the country's most important Hindu temples, followed by the historic Jaffna Fort, built during the Portuguese and Dutch colonial periods. Later, visit Nagadeepa Temple, an island shrine revered by both Buddhists and Hindus, associated with ancient legends and spiritual traditions. Overnight stay in Jaffna.
This morning, drive along Sri Lanka's scenic eastern coastline to Trincomalee, one of the island's oldest harbour cities. Visit the spectacular Thirukoneswaram Temple, dramatically perched atop Swami Rock overlooking the Indian Ocean. This sacred Shiva temple is closely linked with the Ramayana and Ravana legends. Later, relax at the pristine Nilaveli Beach or enjoy an optional excursion to Pigeon Island National Park, renowned for its coral reefs and marine life. Overnight stay in Trincomalee.
After breakfast, travel towards Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle. En route, climb the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring ancient frescoes, landscaped gardens, and breathtaking panoramic views. Continue to the remarkable Dambulla Cave Temple, home to beautifully preserved Buddhist murals and over 150 statues of Lord Buddha. Following breakfast, visit the revered Temple of the Tooth, which houses the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha. This spiritual landmark holds great significance for Buddhists worldwide. Also explore other iconic attractions in Kandy, including the serene Kandy Lake and the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens. In the evening, we will enjoy a mesmerizing cultural dance performance, showcasing traditional Sri Lankan music and dance forms. Overnight stay in Kandy.
After breakfast, enjoy a picturesque drive through tea plantations and mist-covered mountains to Nuwara Eliya, often called "Little England." En route, visit the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple, believed to mark Hanuman's search for Goddess Sita. Continue to the sacred Sita Amman Temple, situated near the legendary Ashoka Vatika, where Sita was believed to have been held captive by King Ravana. Also visit Gayathri Peedam, another revered Ramayana site. Later, explore Nuwara Eliya's colonial charm, tea estates, and gardens. Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
From Nuwara Eliya, we will travel to the sacred town of Kataragama. En-route visit the Ravana cave and Ravana water fall, believed to have been part of King Ravana's kingdom. In Kataragama, we will visit the revered Kataragama Temple, dedicated to Lord Murugan, a significant deity associated with the Ramayana. The temple attracts devotees from different faiths, fostering a sense of spiritual unity. Overnight stay in Kataragama.
Begin the day with an exciting jeep safari in Yala National Park, Sri Lanka's most famous wildlife sanctuary, home to elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and one of the world's highest densities of leopards. Later, continue to the beautiful beach resort town of Bentota. En route, enjoy a relaxing Madu River Boat Safari, cruising through mangrove forests and small islands, followed by a visit to the Kosgoda Turtle Conservation Centre, dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles. Overnight stay in Bentota.
After breakfast, drive to Colombo and explore Sri Lanka's bustling commercial capital. Visit Galle Face Green, Independence Square, the iconic Lotus Tower, Gangaramaya Temple, Viharamahadevi Park, and the National Museum. Drive past the historic Fort area and admire the city's colonial architecture, modern skyline, colourful markets, and places of worship representing Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity. The evening is free for shopping or leisure. Overnight stay in Colombo.
