Upon arrival in Kolkata, begin your journey towards Bishnupur, located approximately 160 kms away through the picturesque countryside of West Bengal. En route, stop at the historic village of Antpur, famous for its magnificent terracotta temple built in the traditional “Atchala” style. The temple walls beautifully depict scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata through intricate terracotta artwork. The surrounding villages also offer glimpses into Bengal’s rural textile weaving traditions. Continue your scenic drive through lush green villages, ponds and agricultural landscapes before arriving in Bishnupur by afternoon. After check-in and lunch, visit Panchmura village, located around 10 kms away, renowned for the iconic Bishnupur terracotta horses crafted by local artisans. Later in the evening, explore some of Bishnupur’s fascinating terracotta and laterite stone temples built during the Malla dynasty period. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Bishnupur.

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the magnificent temple architecture of Bishnupur, one of Bengal’s most important heritage towns. The town flourished under the Malla rulers between the 16th and 18th centuries and is globally admired for its exceptional terracotta temples. Visit masterpieces such as Rasmancha, Jor Bangla Temple, Shyam Rai Temple and Madan Mohan Temple, all showcasing remarkable terracotta carvings depicting mythological stories, royal processions, musicians and scenes of daily life. The city gained historical significance after the Battle of Plassey in 1757, which marked the beginning of British rule in India. Upon arrival and check-in, visit the renowned silk weaving centers and sericulture institutions of Murshidabad with prior appointments. Observe the traditional silk weaving process and interact with artisans engaged in creating the famous Murshidabad silk textiles. The town still preserves the elegance of its Nawabi past through its architecture, culture and craftsmanship. Return to the hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight stay in Murshidabad.

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day exploration of Murshidabad’s historical landmarks. Visit the magnificent Hazarduari Palace, famous for its grand architecture and collection of European antiques, weapons, paintings and royal artifacts. Built during the British period for the Nawabs of Bengal, the palace is one of eastern India’s most impressive historical monuments. Cross the River Ganges to visit the beautiful terracotta temples of Baranagar, admired for their intricate carvings and Bengal temple architecture. Continue sightseeing with visits to Katra Mosque, Jain temple complexes and other historical palaces reflecting the city’s rich Nawabi heritage. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Murshidabad. (Note: Hazarduari Palace remains closed on Fridays.)

After breakfast, drive towards the traditional weaving villages of Samudragarh, known for Bengal’s handloom textile traditions. Walk through the village lanes to witness skilled artisans weaving sarees using age-old techniques passed down through generations. Continue to Kalna, famous for its remarkable terracotta temple complexes showcasing Bengal’s unique architectural heritage. Visit the beautiful Rajbari Temple complex and other historic temples adorned with detailed terracotta panels. You may also visit Guptipara Temple en route before proceeding to Krishnanagar for overnight stay.

After breakfast, begin the final leg of your journey back to Kolkata. En route, visit the renowned weaving centers of Shantipur, Fulia and Ranaghat, famous for producing Bengal’s traditional “Tant” cotton sarees. Explore the weaving workshops and observe artisans creating delicate handwoven sarees celebrated across India for their comfort, elegance and craftsmanship. Continue your drive to Kolkata, arriving by evening. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel or airport for onward journey.
