Embark on a 2 weeks journey through the mystical North East of India, exploring the cultural richness, natural wonders, and wildlife treasures of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Tripura. From the sacred Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati to the rolling green landscapes of Shillong and Cherrapunjee, from the rhino-filled grasslands of Kaziranga to the serene Loktak Lake of Manipur, and from royal palaces in Tripura to vibrant tribal traditions - this itinerary offers an immersive blend of spirituality, adventure, heritage, and nature.
Tour Plan
Arrive at Guwahati airport, where you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the famous Kamakhya Temple, one of the holiest Shakti Peeths, located atop Nilachal Hill. This ancient temple, rebuilt in 1665 AD by King Naranarayan, is an architectural and spiritual landmark. Overnight stay at Guwahati.
After breakfast, drive to Shillong, the “Scotland of the East”. En route, stop at Umiam Lake (Barapani), surrounded by pine forests, and a hub for water sports and boating. Upon arrival in Shillong, check into the hotel and explore local attractions including Wards Lake, Don Bosco Museum (Asia’s largest museum of Indigenous Cultures), Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Lady Hydari Park, and Shillong Golf Course. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Today, embark on an excursion to Cherrapunjee, famed for being one of the wettest places on earth. Visit the spectacular Nokhalikai Waterfalls, Mawsmai Caves, Thangkharang Park, and Nohsngithiang (Seven Sisters) Falls. Return to Shillong, and later visit Shillong Peak for panoramic views of the city and Elephant Falls, a three-tiered cascade surrounded by greenery. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Drive to Mawlynnong, acclaimed as the cleanest village in Asia. Walk through the neat bamboo pathways, see the Living Root Bridge and the balancing rock formation, and admire the eco-conscious lifestyle of the locals. Continue to Dawki, a border town near Bangladesh, where you can see the crystal-clear Umngot River and enjoy optional adventure activities like kayaking, snorkeling, and zip-lining. Return to Shillong in the evening. Overnight stay at Shillong.
After breakfast, drive to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the best place to spot the endangered Great One-Horned Rhinoceros. The park is also home to tigers, elephants, swamp deer, wild water buffalo, and over 500 bird species. Arrive and check into a jungle lodge/resort. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.
Enjoy an early morning elephant safari in the central range of the park, offering close encounters with rhinos and other wildlife. Return for breakfast. Later, visit the Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park, showcasing over 200 orchid species, cultural performances, and local cuisine. In the afternoon, go on a jeep safari in the western range of Kaziranga for more wildlife sightings. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.
Drive back to Guwahati. The afternoon is free for leisure. In the evening, you may opt for a sunset river cruise on the mighty Brahmaputra, a memorable way to end the day. Overnight stay at Guwahati.
Transfer to the airport to board a flight to Imphal, capital of Manipur. On arrival, check into the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Shree Govindajee Temple, an important Vaishnavite temple with golden domes, located near the Royal Palace. Overnight stay at Imphal.
Explore Imphal’s heritage and history, including the INA Museum, which showcases relics of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the Indian National Army; Khwairamband Bazaar (Ima Market), a unique all-women’s market; World War II Cemeteries; and Kangla Fort, an important archaeological and historical site of Manipur. Overnight stay at Imphal.
Take a full-day excursion to Moreh, a bustling border town between India and Myanmar. The scenic drive through hills and valleys is as captivating as the cultural exchanges in this trading hub. Return to Imphal in the evening. Overnight stay at Imphal.
Today, visit the picturesque Loktak Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India, famous for its floating “phumdis” (islands). Continue to Sendra Island for stunning panoramic views of the lake and to witness the traditional fishing lifestyle of local communities.

After breakfast fly to Agartala, capital of Tripura. Transfer to your hotel and relax. The day is at leisure. Overnight stay at Agartala.
Explore the highlights of Agartala, including the majestic Ujjayanta Palace, Kunjaban Palace, and Jagannath Temple. Later, visit Sipahijola Wildlife Sanctuary, home to migratory birds, spectacled monkeys, and leopards, set amidst rubber plantations and lush greenery. Overnight stay at Agartala.
Full-day excursion around Agartala. Visit Tripura Sundari Temple (Udaipur), one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, built in 1501 AD. Continue to Neermahal Palace, an exquisite water palace in the middle of Rudrasagar Lake, and then to Kamalasagar Lake & Kali Temple near the India-Bangladesh border. Return to Agartala in the evening. Overnight stay at Agartala.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward journey. Tour concludes with unforgettable memories of the Northeast India.
